It’s three days of Excision-grade bass in a field in Ohio, and both the field and the bass change what you should put on your body. The gate rules are different too — looser in one important way, stricter in another — and the people who get caught out are the ones who packed from memory.

Lost Lands 2026 runs September 18–20 at Legend Valley in Thornville, Ohio. Here’s what actually makes it through the gate.

The bag rule, which is the one that gets people

Lost Lands is more generous than EDC here — it allows actual backpacks, where EDC turns them away outright. But there’s a catch in the wording that costs people their bag at the gate:

Single-compartment backpacks — maximum 12″ x 12″. Single. Compartment.

Purses — maximum 12″ x 12″.

Hydration packs / Camelbaks — allowed, and they must be empty when you walk in.

Fanny packs are explicitly fine.

That “single-compartment” clause is doing a lot of work. Most backpacks you own have a main compartment, a front pocket and side pockets — that’s not single-compartment, and that’s the bag going back to your car.

Which means our Mochila Geométrica Luminosa — double-zip main compartment, side pockets — is not the bag for the Lost Lands gate. It’s built for camp, the drive and the hotel. For the field itself, a Bolso de Muslo Holográfico or a plain fanny pack is the correct answer: strapped to you, hands free, nothing to put down in the dark and lose in a crowd of 30,000.

That’s the second guide in a row where we’ve told you not to buy our backpack for the gate. It’s a genuinely good bag. It’s just not a gate bag.

Earplugs are gear, not an accessory

This is a bass festival built by Excision, whose entire production ethos is more subwoofers. Earplugs appear on the official allowed list, and at Lost Lands specifically they are not a precaution — they’re equipment. Good filtered plugs don’t muffle the drop, they stop it turning to mush, and they’re the difference between hearing day three and enduring it.

We don’t sell them. Buy them anyway.

Light-up gear: what the list actually names

The allowed list is refreshingly direct: LED lights, kandi, festival totems, and flow arts like hula hooping, poi, gloving and orbiting. That’s a wide, explicit lane.

Worn light is still the smart play, because your hands are busy and your bag is 12″ x 12″. Goggles LED con Control por App scroll whatever you want across your face from your phone. An Abanico Plegable LED earns its place twice over in a September field — light show, and air.

Totems are allowed but specified tightly: maximum 7 feet including the pole, poles under 1 inch in diameter, totem heads limited to 2 feet measured diagonally with artwork on all sides, and flags no more than 2 feet diagonally. No extendable poles, no wood, no aluminum, no metal, no inflatables.

The whip question: we don’t know, and neither does anyone else

At EDC, this is settled — Insomniac files whips under weapons and they don’t get in. At Lost Lands, whips appear on neither the allowed list nor the prohibited list. The allowed list names poi, gloving and orbiting; it doesn’t say whips. The prohibited list says “weapons, replica weapons”; it doesn’t say whips either.

We sell an Látigo LED de Fibra Óptica and we’d love to tell you it’s fine. We don’t know that it’s fine. Security reads that ambiguity in the moment, and you’re the one holding the bag. Ask Lost Lands directly before you pack it — and if you get an answer in writing, send it to support@raveon.fun and we’ll put it in this guide with credit.

Dressing for a field in September

Ohio in late September is not the Nevada desert, and the failure mode is different: mud and cold rather than dust and heat. It rains. The ground remembers that it rained. Whatever you wear on your feet is going to get wrecked — plan for that rather than mourn it afterwards.

Headbanging for three days also punishes anything you have to keep adjusting. A Arnés Corporal Holográfico stays put because it’s strapped, not draped. A Cortavientos Holográfico con Capucha packs to nothing and handles the temperature drop after dark — and unlike the desert, here it might also handle actual weather.

Full-face masks are allowed, with one condition worth knowing: you have to take it off at security. Wear it in, expect to lift it.

Check it yourself before you pack

All of the above comes from the official Lost Lands allowed & prohibited items list. It changes year to year and campgrounds run different rules from the festival grounds. Read the current version before you pack — and if something here is out of date, tell us and we’ll fix it.

The short version

Bag: single-compartment, 12″ x 12″ max. Multi-pocket backpacks get turned away.

Earplugs. It’s an Excision festival. This is not optional.

LED lights, kandi, poi, gloving, orbiting — all explicitly allowed.

Totems ≤7ft, pole under 1″, head 2′ diagonal, art on all sides.

Whips: unlisted.
